We had such a wonderful day today. We first just hung out and made some crafty melted crayon pics. Mariah came by to help us and make her own works of art. Then Cedar wanted to dress up for some pics. I was so excited. I love trying to get the pics to look old time and the kids love to dress the part. Hope you enjoy we really had fun making these. I love the kids faces and how dang beautiful they are to me. Posted by Picasa

The Hunter's Poem by Lemuel T. Ward

A hunter shot at a flock of geese that flew within his reach. Two were stopped in their rapid flight and fell on the sandy beach. The male bird lay at the water's edge and just before he died, he faintly called to his wounded mate and she dragged herself to his side. She bent her head and crooned to him in a way distressed and wild, caressing her one and only mate as a mother would a child. Then covering him with her broken wing and gasping with failling breath, she laid her head against his breast, a feeble honk....then death. This story is true, though crudely told. I was the man in this case. I stood knee-deep in snow and cold, and the hot tears burned my face. I buried the birds in the sand where thay lay, wrapped in my hunting coat and I threw my gun and belt in the bay when I crossed in the open boat. Hunters will call me a right poor sport and scoff at the thing I did, but that day something broke in my heart, and shoot again? God forbid.

This was the second day of school and I made them pose again. So now it is Sept. 11th and they are both happy with there teachers and love being with friends. They have been taking cold lunch and they are actually eating the food I make and they are getting the homework done and both of them love to read or have stories read to them. We have parents night this Thursday and I am looking forward to talking with the teachers and parents. Cedar has a new teacher who is so sweet, and Oakley teachers is the one everyone said was the meanest, but he really likes her. He tried to get me to change him but just after 2 days he liked her to much to change.  Posted by Picasa

So now it was finally the first day of school. Oakley chose to wear his See no homework, hear no homework, Do no homework. He is all ready to go! Then here is a pic of how they looked together on that first day. Both kids were really excited to get back to school.  Posted by Picasa

We are alive here! I haven't sat down and done any posting for a long time. I first want to post these pics of Oakley. Before school started he wanted to go with Grandpa (my dad) and learn how to mine for GOLD!!! He has gold fever. So Dad and Oakley went out to the desert and started with panning and going through the whole process, until you have to get the flower gold separated from the black sand. They don't find nuggets, it is very fine pieces of gold that you can barely see. He had such an amazing time. Grandpa took these photos and Oakley was able to drive the backhoe. I think that is any little boys dream, get to spend the day with a wonderful grandpa, dig in the dirt with a backhoe, run the equipment and then get to see some gold. This meant so much to Oakley that Grandpa took the time and had so much fun! Posted by Picasa
